In the aftermath of our festival cancelation, we are happy to announce that we are having a Weekndr event featuring some of the GK7 artists. Thank you to all of you who sent us warm words of support and encouragement during this difficult time.That really has meant a lot to us.

*** NOTES ***
1). For those of you traveling in, we’ll provide a list of hotels in the area and help with roommates.
2). There will be IMPRVR and INT tracks so everyone will be able to participate, even new dancers
3). ALL PASSES ONLINE NOW (full, full party, and individual day and party)
4). We will limit the size of the workshops to maximize learning potential, and to insure a balance of leads to follows
5). PRIVATE LESSON availability will be limited and will only be available to FULL PASS holders
6). This is a work in progress. Schedule is subject to change. Check back periodically

MARC BREWER (USA)
Internationally renowned artist Marc Brewer, based in MI, is one of North America’s most sought after Afro-Latin Dance instructors, performers, and choreographers. Certified in 9 American competitive ballroom dances and proficient in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip-hop, dances in the Afro-Latin genre are his specialty and main focus with extensive training and experience in Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, Theater Arts (Lifts, Dips, and Tricks), and Brazilian-Zouk. He is rapidly leaving his mark on the competitive Afro-Latin dance world with recent finalist placements at the American Kizomba Open Championship (1st) and International Kizomba Open (3rd) in 2013 and the 2014 Toronto Bachata Congress Kings of Bachata Competition (2nd). Marc also had the pleasure of starring alongside Sara Lopez in Daniel Santa Cruz’s critically acclaimed Kizomba music video “Lento”. With performances and workshops taught recently in San Francisco, Paris, Mexico, Madrid, Luanda, Bucharest, Los Angeles, Prague, Toronto, New York, Montreal, Miami, Chicago, Houston, New Jersey, Washington D.C, and more….the future is looking to be even brighter for this rising star!

EDO & DENISE (Italy)
Born in Turin, Edo was introduced to the world of dance and music at the age of 15 when he began to study hip-hop and produce his first hip-hop beats. He continued studying Afro and Afro-Cuban, and then moved to the Caribbean world, competing and winning three national championships. He became a successful Salsa dancer and taught for many years in companies like Los Hermanos, SalsaKonFusion, Latin Hipnotyc. He then entered the world of Kizomba and began studying with many internationally renowned masters. Denise started dancing as a toddler, being the daughter of competitors of standard dances and boogie woogie. At the age of 16, she began to studying hip hop and salsa. Edo and Denise started teaching Kizomba workshops and performing shows together in major kizomba events in Europe, eventually reaching the finals at the World Championships in 2014 and the Africadançar Open.

CÉLINE & BENJAMIN (France)
Celine is a dancer and modern jazz teacher, dancing from the age of 4, who discovered Kizomba and fell under its musical charm. Benjamin discovered the world of couples dance, and decided to learn to dance Kizomba. His main influences are mainly Albir, Enah, and Morenasso, but he has also studied under Petchu, Tecas, Tony Pirata, Curtis, Felicien, Z. Barbosa, Avelino, and Kwenda Lima to learn Kizomba in all its forms! They began to teach in 2015 after several organizers and dance school directors approached them.

YENI LUCERO (USA)
Introducing dance sensation Yeni Lucero. Her classes introduce and revise authentic traditional West African dance movements and technique, with a sprinkle of Hip-Hop, Jazz and Modern dance technique. She’ll be teaching her signature Afro-Funk and body movement workshops at the festival. YENI LUCERO was born in the small town of Chalchuapa, coming to the Bay Area later in life, she began her training in West African dance at the age of 15, and soon pursued a more versatile training at San Francisco State University, in which she obtained a BA in Dance and Choreography. Ms. Lucero also had the opportunity to extend her training at the Alvin Ailey School during the summer of 2006. She has performed work by Diamanou Coura/West African Dance Company, Paco Gomes, Annie Rosenthal, Jacinta Vlach, Robert Moses’Kin, and Ron K. Brown. Lucero was invited to present a solo for the Artists of the Voices of Strength Salon YBCA Oct 2012, and also teach a West African Funk master class in the African Diaspora derived series of the 50 Cent Tabernacle, organized by YBCA youth at work in San Francisco Oct 2012. Congo SQ West Kinship Society of Oakland CA, also recognized Lucero’s leadership and was honored in teaching a master class for UNITY dance day. Ms. Lucero has taught at Lines Ballet/SFDC, Dance Mission, Sonoma State University, Juvenile Detention Center in the East Bay, High Schools in Oakland including Head Royce, Fremont, McClymond, Elementary School Berkeley Arts Magnet, SF Fitness, Club one and Bay Functional Fitness. Lucero has also been a guest choreographer for Diamano Coura, West African Dance Company presenting “Bittersweet” and also had the privilege to be a part of flying yoga to win, Best of the East Bay 2011 award for “Best Hybrid Exercise–Zumba fitness at flying yoga”. This is Ms. Lucero’s fourth year teaching Zumba and West African Funk at Flying-Yoga & third year at Head Royce ASP teaching kinder, 1-5th and middle school Hip-Hop. In May of 2013 Lucero was invited to teach contemporary technique and choreography to local Dance professionals and Choreographers in Mozambique Africa, with the honor to have trained and put work on the National Dance Company. In addition Ms. Lucero is also a Teaching Artist Specialist for the Alameda County Office Of Education. Lucero embraces her talents and gifts and humbly give thanks to all her master teachers family, but foremost the Most High.

EMILE & VERONIKA (USA/UKRAINE)
Veronika, a dancer from the Ukraine, started her journey with hip-hop. She was then drawn to the sensuous rhythms of Cuban salsa, training with some of the top dancers in Europe before moving to the US. Once here, she was exposed to other styles of salsa. Applying her formidable natural dance talent, she quickly became known as one of the Bay Area’s best social dancers. She is well-known for her ability to move and isolate her body parts in a way few others can, and is recognized as one of the finest Kizomba dancers in North America. Emile is a California native with a lengthy background in music, dance, martial arts, and competitive sports. His dance career started with many years of hip-hop. Then, he was lured into the sexy world of Latin dance, spending extensive time in Europe training with some of the world’s top dancers in salsa. In addition to his love for several salsa styles(cuban, “On-1”, “On-2”), he’s also dabbled a bit in dances such as bachata, cha cha, and carribean zouk. Their current passion is Kizomba, and as Cartara Productions, the duo has been on the forefront of exposing the Bay Area, and North America, to this elegant, exciting, and beautiful dance from Africa and Portugal. Since 2012, they have held close to 20 intensive Kizomba weekenders, 5 International SF got kizomba! festivals featuring amazing Kizomba artists from around the world, and hosted&sponsored the 1st DC Kizomba Congress. This is in addition to organizing various Kizomba&Semba workshops, parties, socials, and related events, and collaborating with, and counseling, promoters in other areas of North America and the world. They have trained, as both instructors and dancers, with some of the top names in the business, such as Kwenda, Petchu, Albir&Sara, Tony Pirata, Cyméone, and Joao&Mafalda. Some of the other festivals they have taught in are the SF Salsa Congress, the Houston Salsa Festival, and the 1st NJ Bachata&Kizomba Festival.
